Moo Duk Kwan Anniversary (9 November 2010)
On the 65th Moo Duk Kwan Anniversary day (i.e. birthday of SBDMDK’s founder, Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee), we were privileged to witness the following at Basalt RMMA Dojang:
- Children’s grading (so much fun!!!);
- Kyo Sa Candidate red belt workshop (very cool); and
- Gup grading (excellent).
The Gup grading was presided by Moonitz SBN, Griggs SBN and Gibbons SBN. Students from Aspen, Basalt, New Castle and Boulder RMMA tested. It was an excellent demonstration of the art through uniformity and spirit.
We were reminded of what an honour it is to be SBDMDK practitioners :O) Soo Bahk!!!
That night we had a celebratory dinner at the Fine Line Bar, known to have the best pizza in town! It sure was YUMMO! Couldn’t think of a better way to spend Moo Duk Kwan’s Anniversary – very privileged indeed.

Training @ Basalt RMMA Dojang (11 November 2010)
We had the opportunity to assist with a children’s grading, red belts and the adult gups class.
The red belt class and white belt student were practising sweeping kicks and turning hook kicks. Boy they can kick!!! The word AWESOME comes to mind and I think our jaws dropped... LOL... their flying kicks were impressive too ;O)
In the adult gup class we practiced Ki Chos and Hyungs. Desiree got to introduce Chil Sung Sam Ro and I introduced Pyung Ahn Cho Dan to the newly graded 3rd Gup and 7th Gups respectively. This was followed by a sparring session to complete our training at Basalt.
It was a great week of training with RMMA. We certainly look forward to visiting and training there again :O)
Quirky Facts: Basalt RMMA Dojang has a star constellation that is named for Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee!
